actDeveloping Effective Teachers for Diverse Communities

ACT is an accelerated, two-semester preliminary credential program offered collaboratively by the Michael D. Eisner College of Education and LAUSD District 2. The ACT Program is designed for post-baccalaureate credential candidates interested in pursuing a Multiple Subject, Single Subject, or Education Specialist (Level 1) Credential and is accredited by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing and the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Educators.
The ACT Program focuses on addressing the diverse needs of urban school learners and has received support from the Orfalea Foundation to prepare K-12 educators in neurodevelopmental methodology, an innovative and research-based educational approach. ACT is housed at the DELTA Professional Development Center on LAUSD’s Francis Polytechnic High School Campus. Since its inception in 1998, ACT has over a 90% program completion and high employment rate.
